Sabine
Team Assistant (Automation and Control)
About me:
Hello, my name is Sabine. I have been with Zippe for over 30 years and currently work as a team assistant in the Automation and Control department.
After graduating from high school in 1991, I began an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at Zippe. Between 1999 and 2001, I completed additional training as a foreign language correspondent while working.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and engaging in sports. I also have a wide range of musical interests.
Zippe and I:
After working as an executive assistant for many years, I took parental leave to spend time at home with my two children. Thanks to Zippe, my return to work in a part-time capacity, was seamless and between 2011 and 2017, I worked in various departments within the company.
Since 2017 I have been a team assistant in the Automation and Control department. My main responsibilities include supporting the department head and organizing travel arrangements for our technicians and software programmers. Given our global operations, this role presents several challenges, such as obtaining work permits, visas, and other travel documentation.
My job often requires flexibility and commitment, and I take great satisfaction in making travel arrangements for my colleagues as smooth and hassle-free as possible, from departure to return.
I appreciate the flexibility in managing my working hours at Zippe and the opportunity to work remotely. I thoroughly enjoy working with the Control department team, and I can always rely on my colleagues. Our department events, whether it’s a Christmas party, a barbecue, or an outing, highlight our good and collegial cooperation.

Volker
Director Sales Department
About me:
My name is Volker, I am 57 years old, married and I have 2 adult daughters.
I like to spend what little free time I have;-) with family and friends. Sport is also part of my life: whether it’s tennis or soccer – the main thing is to keep moving. I am also active in the carnival club.
Zippe and I:
In 1985, I started my apprenticeship as a technical draughtsman at Zippe. After that, I studied mechanical engineering at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, specialising in design and conveying technology. In 1994, I started working for Zippe again as a design engineer and project manager. After just one year, I was offered a job as a sales engineer.
Designing major batch plants was actually my favourite job, but then I decided to switch to sales. Sales in plant engineering means continuing to plan new plants for our customers all over the world. Customers approach us with problems, ideas and complex tasks. Our job is then to find a practicable, as well as technically and economically viable solution to these problems.
The work involves creating a flow chart, a design drawing, a calculation and a quotation. What I like most is interacting with our customers all over the world – from the first technical discussion to the final negotiation. I also enjoy business travel and visiting trade fairs on all continents. After a few years as a sales engineer, I was offered the position of Head of Sales. I have been in this position for many years now and I really enjoy working with my colleagues in the sales team.
At the moment, we have a lot of young sales staff and I am happy to pass on all my knowledge to them. Even after so many years, glass production is still a very interesting and appealing field of work. Glass is very diverse and we therefore have customers in many sectors; container glass, flat glass, solar glass and pharmaceutical glass. The area of batch processing and recycling of used glass is also varied. The combination of the specialist areas just mentioned in conjunction with the customers represented worldwide is a very challenging area of responsibility and I hope to be able to do this for a while longer.

Steffen
Industrial Management
Assistant
About me:
My name is Steffen, and I’m 35 years old. I was born near Würzburg and still live there.
In 2005, I graduated from a business-oriented high school and started my vocational training as an industrial management assistant at Zippe. After that, I was offered a permanent position and was employed in the production planning area for the mechanical workshop. With a 9-month interruption (civilian service), I have been working in this department until now, and I still enjoy it a lot.
I enjoy spending my free time with my family and friends. I am also interested in soccer and generally all kinds of sports. Moreover, I also like to travel.
Zippe and I:
In the production planning of our mechanical workshop, I am responsible for the planning and realization of raw materials management. Production planning is the interface between our engineering center and the mechanical production. We also plan and realize the purchasing and external processing of parts required for our production.
I like that we realize both large and small projects with single machines as well as spare part orders for our customers worldwide.
The (international) glass industry is very interesting.
We generally have a varied and collegial working atmosphere in our company. Besides our daily work, I also really like that we have regular afterwork events and that you can participate in various sport events.

After school, I completed a vocational training as metal worker. For about four years, I worked in the beautiful area of South Tyrol. After that, I returned back home and worked at company Braun-Household GmbH for about 15 years, first as a machine operator and later as a service technician. In September 2023, I started working for Zippe.
Zippe and I:
My tasks here include the manufacturing and installation of our customer-specific machines and plants.
What do you like about your work?
I especially like the family atmosphere here at Zippe, both among my colleagues and also with superiors. It never gets boring in our workshop; every day is different due to the variety of our products.

Sabrina
Warehouse Management
Mechanical Production
About me:
My name is Sabrina. I am 34 years old and I have been working in the mechanical warehouse at Zippe for almost 5 years.
In my free time I enjoy being outside in nature. I like going for long walks with my dog and working in my own garden. I also enjoy cooking, and I particularly love all sorts of crafting.
Zippe and I:
My main tasks are picking out the articles for production, receiving goods, loading and unloading trucks, as well as coordinating the mechanical warehouse, for example checking material availability.
I like working in the warehouse because it’s very diverse, and the work area itself covers a broad spectrum.
There are always new challenges that I can solve together with my colleagues – which also enable me to grow personally. I also prefer the physical side of the job to that of working in an office.

Morteza
Electronics Technician
My name is Morteza. I am 22 years old and originally come from Afghanistan.
About me:
I was born and raised in Iran. I have been living in Germany for eight years and live with a German family in Wertheim. After graduating from secondary school, I had started a vocational training as an electronics technician for industrial engineering at Zippe which I successfully completed in 2023. Now I work as an electronics technician here.
In my your free time I like to read books and meet with friends.
Zippe and I:
I like that I can work independently, and that I have very friendly and supportive colleagues.
As German is not my mother language, I find that very important.
In the electrical production, we build control system cabinets for our customers in the glass industry. Oftentimes we are away for installation in Germany and abroad.
This is what I especially like because every project is different, and you can grow personally.

Susanne
Sales Engineer
My name is Susanne. I was born in Wertheim, where I grew up and went to school.
About me:
After graduating from high school, I moved to Darmstadt to study general mechanical engineering. I spent five intensive and instructive years there before finally starting my first job as a project engineer in Giessen as a graduate. This year, I decided to move back to Wertheim and have been part of the Zippe sales team since May 2023.
Zippe and I:
As a sales engineer in plant engineering, I am responsible for the technical preparation of international enquiries and coordination with customers, among other things.
I find it particularly interesting that every customer has different requirements for their batch plant. This means that none of the layouts that we develop together with the customer in our sales department are the same. This always brings new challenges and variety.
In order to familiarise myself with the requirements of the glass industry as a newcomer, I have a team of experienced yet young colleagues who support all the way. I particularly appreciate the fact that we not only work very well together professionally within the team, but also that our dealings with each other are very open and friendly.

Timo
Sales Engineer
My name is Timo, I’m 25 years old and a certified industrial foreman specialising in metal.
About me:
I attended the Central Trade School in Buchen and completed an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic in the field of machinery and plant engineering. Immediately after completing my training, I was taken on in the technical field service.
After about one and a half years, I started the master craftsman school to become a certified industrial foreman on a part-time basis, which was an exciting and challenging time for me.
For about two years I have been working for Zippe in sales and plant construction.
Zippe and I:
For me, my job at Zippe means: independence, responsibility, freedom.
In addition to exciting activities in the office, such as creating 3D layouts for complex batch plants, through to project planning, preparing quotations and negotiations, it’s all there.
My personal highlight: We often get the opportunity to discuss our projects directly with customers on site, to cultivate contacts and discover new places.
At Zippe, I really like the fact that I can plan my work freely and therefore don’t miss out on my leisure activities. Our team is modern and smart (“zmart” ;-)), which makes for an easy-going atmosphere between us all.

In my spare time, I volunteer with the Technisches Hilfswerk. It’s a varied hobby that allows me to put my technical interest into practice.
Zippe and I:
In 2015, I started my training as a technical product designer at Zippe, which I completed in 2019. I then completed my A-levels at the GTB Tauberbischofsheim and started my degree in civil engineering at the dual university Baden Württemberg (DHBW) in autumn 2020.
During my studies, I was already able to gain experience in the sales department and work on tenders for concrete and steel construction. Since October of this year, after the completion of my studies, I work in the sales department as a sales engineer.
What I like about Zippe is the interaction with different people all over the world. The diverse situations and customer requirements make the job varied and multi-faceted. I particularly enjoy the mathematical design of a batch plant in order to achieve the best possible result for the customer.
Regular customer visits provide a practical connection to the plants and expand my experience.

Karola
Technical Writer
About me:
Hello, my name is Karola, I am 55 years old and live in the beautiful Mainfranken area, located between the Spessart and Odenwald regions. I work for Zippe as a technical writer, the best job you can think of.
And if you’re wondering about my picture: It’s just like me: different.
After finishing school, I started my occupational path with a vocational training as a dental assistant. After that, I wanted to continue practical work and found a training position as an energy electronics technician in process engineering.
I worked in this job for about 16 years and between installations and production, I was called to the technical office every now and then to draw circuit diagrams and issue operating instructions.
Zippe and I:
I have worked for Zippe since mid of 2022. My main task is the structuring of operating instructions and software descriptions. A foundation for introducing an editorial system is planned to be established by using repetitive text modules.
The challenges in the engineering industry are very diverse and fuel my ambition every day. Creating understandable operating instructions for external (and internal) users offers great potential both for my personal development as well as for the company. As a technical writer you are in contact with almost all company departments. No matter if it is about technical illustrations, data sheets, legal requirements or software descriptions, Zippe has many different areas where you can develop productively.
