The Wertheim Fire Department, City Division, was delighted to receive a special donation: Dr. Philipp Zippe (Managing Director of Zippe Industrieanlagen GmbH) officially presented a modern thermal imaging camera, which will be used in future firefighting operations and technical assistance missions. The donation was prompted last year when the fire department visited Zippe’s company premises for a training exercise.
From Training Exercise to Practical Support
During the training exercise, the Wertheim Fire Department demonstrated typical tactics and procedures on the company’s factory grounds. In the subsequent discussion with the division’s leadership, it became clear that an additional thermal imaging camera could significantly assist firefighters in their daily operations – particularly in search and rescue, locating the source of fires, and monitoring hazardous areas.
“It was immediately clear to me that I wanted to help,”
explained Philipp Zippe. “Our firefighters provide a voluntary service that is anything but a given. When modern technology enhances their safety and allows people in distress to be found more quickly, it’s an investment that benefits the entire city.”
State-of-the-art equipment – for greater safety
The new thermal imaging camera enables the department to react more flexibly and quickly during operations. Such devices have long been indispensable in firefighting, but their purchase price is high. Thanks to the donation from the Wertheim-based entrepreneur, the department has now been able to upgrade to the latest technology.
The department commander and team gratefully accepted the camera today. “Such commitment from the local business community is not only a significant support for our work, but also a sign that our volunteer service is recognized and valued,” said the fire department officials.
“I have the utmost respect for this volunteer work.”
Philipp Zippe emphasizes how impressed he is by the dedication of the firefighters: “What these women and men accomplish – often at night, on weekends, or under high risk – deserves the highest recognition. With my donation, I want to contribute a small part to ensuring they are well-equipped and safe on their missions.” Furthermore, he wishes the firefighters “a safe return home from every call.”
Camera now in service
Following the official handover, the new thermal imaging camera is now in regular service and is available to the emergency personnel of the city fire department. It will be used on the next call – a useful tool that may save crucial minutes and protect lives in the future.
